Class of 2010 Graduate and have great future prospects!
13 Students from our E2E training programme for 16-18 year olds Graduated on Thursday 30th July 2010. The 26 week employment preparation course trained the young people to become outdoor instructors, also giving them some key transferrable skills for other industries and future career/training pathways.
Students who graduated had completed a number of units, including gaining their First Aid certificate, Sports Leaders Award, completing a community service project and achieving their high ropes and climbing group leader certificate.
The graduation ceremony featured presentations by each of the learners and a Key Note speech from Falklands War Veteran Robert Lawrence who spoke to the young people and guests about triumph over adversity, reflecting on his experiences since suffering a life changing injury during the Falklands War age just 20 which left him partially paralysed.
The learners spoke about how the course had developed their confidence, group leadership and communication skills and all of the learners have secured either training contracts at Treejumpers Adventure Centres or places on college courses.
Steve age 18, winner of the Top Student Award said “I joined Treejumpers Academy after being medically discharged from the Royal Marines during basic training, this course has restored confidence in myself and I am now working full time for Treejumpers as an Outdoor Instructor – it has changed my life for the better and given something to work for”.
The Treejumpers Outdoor Academy is already enrolling for a second course and we will now be offering new qualifications including Functional Skills and Personal Development Awards. For more information visit
