Overview
Our E2E programme is designed to prepare young people for the working world, with a specific target of becoming an Outdoor Activity Instructor. However the course involves a number of learning paths and outcomes including Functional Skills, Customer Service Training, Child Protection Procedures, Teambuilding, Risk Assessing, Group Management Skills and of course the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and safety procedures for running adventurous activities. Therefore the course is ideally suited to any NEET young person looking for personal development that isn’t adverse to working in an outdoor environment.
During participation on the programme individuals will have the opportunity to earn a number of Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications including First Aid, ICT, Maths, English, Certificate in skills for life, Certificate in Personal Progress, Certificate in Preparing for Working Life and BTEC in Sport and Active Leisure.
Progression opportunities
We are able to offer progression to suitable candidates at our centres after completion of the course. Alternatively we have a number of links with local employers including The Hop Farm World of Activities, The Hop Farm Conferencing and Hospitality Venue, a local plant nursery and a local stables. We will fully support the efforts of our learners to gain employment in other industries/locations and will aid them in their preparation for this.
Length of course
Average course length is 26 weeks, however we will ‘Graduate’ students early if they perform well, or continue training with any young people who are not quite ready after the 26 week period.
Referral/Application Process
Individuals should contact their local Connexions to apply for the course, we operate on a roll on roll off basis with new intakes in the first week of every month.
Future Development Plans
From August 2010 we will be offering a second strand of this course – preparation for employment in the Uniformed Services. This course is specifically designed for young people looking to enter the Military, Police Force and other uniformed services. The course will start with an initial 6 week general programme, before progressing to focus on Personal Fitness Training and Understanding Discipline/Way of life in these careers paths.
