Garon Hawkes has over 20 year’s experience of working with young people from all types of background in an outdoor environment.

Garon was course director for the organisation IMPACT for 8 years. IMPACT are a training provider for young people age 16+, their programme (authored by Garon himself) is highly acclaimed and became a flagship provision of it’s kind within the learning skills council Kent and Medway. It aimed to prepare young people, intellectually, physically and psychologically for the uniformed public services. The majority of participants were disaffected and disengaged from traditional learning and often had no focus or direction for their career aspirations or life goals. The programme included a condensed ASDAN course, with students completing either the Bronze or Silver awards over the course of just 13 weeks around their other course commitments (where most educational establishments would work over the course of a year or more to achieve this).

Garon’s other career background and qualifications include Master Instructor scuba diver, Medic First Aid Instructor, PTI Instructor, CSLA Train the Trainer award and a long lived military career in the Parachute Regiment.

Garon joined Treejumpers 18 months ago as a freelance instructor before joining full time in May 2009. Since then he has put in place structured training programmes and operational measures, and bought with him a wealth of expertise and knowledge which ensure that we are able to move forward with the provision of accredited programmes for young people.
